About the Position

The Field Facilitator will provide support to WorldFish’s Partnership for Aquaculture Development in Timor-Leste - Phase 2 (PADTL2) Project Leader and key team members in the following areas:

  • Attend initial orientation by Project Coordinator to familiarize with FFS (farmer field school) sessions, reporting systems and job scopes.
  • Support farmers in developing their activity plans and adoption of aquaculture BMP (better management practices) in the field for their responsible farmer clusters.
  • Report the progress of farmers’ production cycle and challenges they face follows the project’s designated monitoring system (pond book).
  • Complete the weekly update and planning report.
  • Work closely with village chief/village council to ensure involvement of community members.
  • Coordinate the local training sessions and meetings with farmers, WorldFish and MAF (Ministry Agriculture and Fisheries) officers at the field.
  • Assist in implementation of surveys related to the project.
  • Continuously communicate farmers’ issues to WorldFish and MAF suco extension officer and assist with resolution.

Requirements

This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:

  • High school with 1-year relevance experience working with local community.
  • Knowledgeable, literate, enthusiastic members of the community.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with project leader and project working group.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in pond aquaculture.
  • Basic communications skills in English.
  • Fluency in Tetum language and local languages according to site location.

This is a 6-month temporary position for 3 successful applicants with salary commensurate to the responsibilities of this position. Our Offer

The successful 3 Field Facilitator will be based in Hera (Dili), Umaberloik (Manufahi) and Laubonu/Atsabe (Ermera). Interviews are expected to be held in August / September 2023 and only shortlisted candidate will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial of 6 months temporary contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding situation.
